BUILDING RESILIENCE FOR THE MODERN AGE
Date: 24th September 2018
Places: limited to 150 places
Location: The St Botolph Building, 138 Houndsditch, London, EC3A 7AW
RATIONALE FOR THE EVENT
Every high performer has their own story of why resilience has been central to them achieving success whilst dealing effectively with the demands placed upon them. Lessons from performance psychology suggest that those who deal most effectively with the pressures of their job are those who thrive rather than simply cope.
A resilient workforce is required across organisations as we all face increased competition, change, complexity and uncertainty. Taking proactive steps to increase our resilience not only reduces stress related absence, but also helps us to relish the opportunity for challenge, enabling us to thrive when faced with the targets and deadlines embedded in 21st century working.
This event will provide an outstanding learning experience for leaders and high achievers who recognise these demands, as well as providing the opportunity to network with colleagues from a cross-section of high performing organisations.
The event has the added raison d’etre of raising funds for Duchenne UK, a lean, ambitious and highly focused charity whose vision is to fund and accelerate treatments and a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and to do so in a decade.
PLAN FOR THE DAY
We will start the event with a buffet lunch to enable networking and meeting the presenters informally. We will then have a series of interactive presentations with opportunities for Q&A and round table discussion around elements of individual, team and organisational resilience. There will be a panel discussion towards the end of the day and a reception in the early evening for further networking. A detailed programme is shown below outlining the focus and content of each session.
The event will provide the opportunity to hear some personal insights from a number of world class performers from a variety of high pressure contexts. Each of the five presenters are highly renowned and sought after speakers in their own right and have been assembled because they can share stories that will resonate at the individual, team and organisational level at work, as well as providing a perspective on resilience that will serve us well for life in general.
The insight will be provided by two Olympic Gold medallists from contrasting sports, Lizzy Yarnold in Skeleton and Greg Searle in Rowing, a Sport Psychologist integral to these Gold medal outcomes, a former Borough Commander of the Metropolitan Police, and a leading academic. The session will be facilitated by experienced moderators who have worked with a host of Blue Chip organisations to transfer the learnings most effectively to their own businesses. Attendees will leave with a host of strategies and techniques to apply for both themselves and the people they lead.
REGISTRATION AND FEES
The cost of the event will be £350 per head with the proceeds going to Duchenne UK, to support research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a terminal disease that requires tremendous resilience from the children suffering from the condition and from their families and friends. The JLT Group will be sponsoring the catering and room.
