Duchenne UK and British Esports Association: online gaming tournament

Registration Information

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September

Duchenne UK is excited to host this series of online esports tournaments with British Esports Association for young people with Duchenne and their siblings*. We hope you will join us!

The Fortnite (12+) and Rocket League (3+) tournaments will take place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September for PS4, XBOX One and PC. 

We are also launching a Minecraft Creative Build Tournament to be completed in participants own time from Friday 4th – Thursday 10th September.

The tournaments will be as follows providing the minimum numbers are met: 

Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th September

  • Rocket League (Under 10's)
  • Rocket League (11-16yrs)
  • Rocket League (16+)
  • Fortnite (12-16yrs)
  • Fortnite (16+)

All games have a PEGI age rating. The minimum age is 12 for Fortnite and therefore anyone under that age will not be able to participate.

Minecraft Creative Build Tournament: Friday 4th – Thursday 10th September (complete in own time)

Categories: Under 10's, 11-16yrs, and 16+yrs

Winners will be announced on Sunday 13th September. Winners of each tournament will receive a Razer Kraken X Headset!

*Siblings can play in the same tournament and age category if they have multiple PC/consoles. Siblings in the same age bracket for the tournament cannot play on the same device due to simultaneous match time.

We will live stream the finals for each Rocket League tournament and select Fortnite matches on Twitch (www.twitch.tv/britishesports).

Each participant must have a consent form completed by their parent/guardian. Please download and complete this streaming consent form and return to [email protected].

Please note we require all participants to verify their age to take part in these tournaments, so make sure that you have a valid form of ID when contacted by Duchenne UK.

Gaming Tournament FAQs:

1. What systems can I play on?
Our tournaments are enabled for PC, XBOX One and PS4.

2. Why can I not play on a Nintendo Switch?
Nintendo Switch consoles are unfortunately not suitable on this occasion in order to create a fair environment that offers the best possible experience. Console and PC players would have significant advantages compared to the individuals on a Nintendo Switch.

3. Can I enter more than one tournament?
Yes, as long as you meet the requirements for each tournament.

4. Why can I not play Fortnite?
All games have a PEGI age rating. The minimum age is 12 for Fortnite and therefore anyone under that age will not be able to participate.

5. Why might my selected tournament not take place?
Each tournament will require a minimum number of players. If these numbers are not met, then we may need to cancel or reschedule your event.

6. Can siblings play in the same tournament and age category?
Siblings can play in the same tournament and age category if they have multiple PC/Consoles. Siblings in the same age bracket for the tournament cannot play on the same device due to simultaneous match time.

7. How will I know what time my tournament will start?
All participants will receive an email once registration is closed with a Discord link where they will find all the relevant information.

8. What is Discord?
Discord is a free text and voice chat service that is a secure and works on phone or desktop.

9. If I have a problem before or during the game what do I do?
In advance of the game you will receive an invite to a closed Discord group. This group will allow you access to tournament hosts and their admins to support you with any queries.
