Family and Friends Funds

You get all the benefits of having your own fundraising identity and control over how the funds are spent, without the legal, financial and other burdens of running a registered charity. 

When you set up your Family and Friends Fund with Duchenne UK we will make sure that it is unique and personal to you. You can name your fund, we will work with you to develop an eye-catching logo and it will be shared on the Duchenne UK website. 

You get to decide how your funds are spent. Duchenne UK will provide you with regular updates on key projects, trials and research that will be supported allowing you to pick the projects that you are most interested in. Don’t worry, if that sounds overwhelming – you can also ask us to invest your funds on your behalf across all of our vital projects if you would prefer.  

We will send you quarterly financial statements detailing the total amount received, any monies committed to projects, and your remaining available funds.

Every pound you raise will be invested into your chosen projects. This is a unique opportunity to put your funds directly into the research projects that you are most interested in, without funding any of the overheads of a charity.

We will help you to achieve your fundraising goals by providing advice, information and inspiration. You will have access to a growing toolkit of resources online and our team will be happy to help with any questions you have about fundraising. You can also speak to our team about fundraising materials or resources too.

We will provide you with regular updates on your fundraising success and on the projects that you have chosen to support.

We’re doing this by funding research that’s focused on getting treatments to those affected now – as well as pushing for a transformative treatment in the future.  

You will have the opportunity to attend exclusive interactive webinars with our Co-Founders where you will hear more about Duchenne UK’s latest news and supported projects.

Our heart and soul, our reason for carrying on, are our boys and men, and rare girls, living with DMD. By working collaboratively we can focus on ending DMD as quickly and effectively as possible. And it means you can be part of it too. Together, we will end Duchenne. 

Duchenne UK works with more than 40 Family and Friends Funds and that number is growing all the time. We arrange regular meetings to share our progress and to connect socially. Living with a rare disease can feel isolating, but having the opportunity to connect, share and grow friendships with others living with DMD can be an extremely positive experience for many friends and families.
