This time last year me and my partner received the devastating news that our happy little boy has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

This is a condition where the body produces little or no Dystrophin which acts like a shock absorber for the muscles. Without Dystrophin Muscle damage occurs regularly. The muscle repairs itself with scar tissue but over time muscle gets weaker.

In general, a steady decline in muscle strength between the ages of 6 and 11 is expected and by 12 years many children are confined to a wheelchair. By their late teens most young people with Duchenne lose the ability to move their arms and experience more problems with breathing and with the heart.

Time is short and I am doing my bit to raise funds to help assist research into this horrible condition which will hopefully one day find a cure.

Not only for our son but for all the other boys, some girls and adults that have this condition and have even less time than Lincoln.
