Hello
Thank you for donating to us. We’re incredibly grateful to you for choosing to support our work.
As the leading Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) charity in the UK, we are going further by funding the most promising research for effective new DMD treatments, and doing it faster by overcoming the barriers in our way.
We’re also transforming the way healthcare is delivered in the UK for people with DMD, and developing innovative technology to support their movement and independence.
Your donation will help to change the lives of the boys, men and rare girls affected by this devastating disease.
You can read about some of the incredible results we have achieved with the help of donations in our latest impact report.
Thank you for helping us to end Duchenne.
Warmest wishes,
Emily Reuben OBE and Alex Johnson OBE
Co-founders of Duchenne UK
Our DMD Hub's network now has DMD trial sites in Alder Hey, Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, London (Evelina), London (GOSH), Manchester, Newcastle, Oswestry, and Oxford, which have been undertaking trials for people with DMD from across the UK in 2023. By the end of 2023, the DMD Hub has run 41 trials and 574 people with DMD have taken part in a DMD Hub trial since it was set up in 2016.
Our DMD Care UK progamme has produced guidelines for healthcare professionals on cardiac, respiratory, bone and endocrine care for DMD patients and a guide for patients and families. DMD Care UK has also produced information for patients and families on managing adrenal insufficiency and how to prevent adrenal crisis, and managing pubertal delay and testosterone therapy for people with DMD.
A third prototype of our arm-assist Elevex has been produced. It is now undergoing further development with the DMD community. We are on schedule to have the final device ready for manufacture by the end of 2025.
