Launched in 1980, the Dublin Marathon is Europe’s 4th largest marathon and a global running event.
This reasonably flat course starts at Fitzwilliam Square in the city centre and concludes at Merrion Square. Exact routing varies, although in recent years the race has proceeded in an anti-clockwise direction around the city, including passing through the Phoenix Park.
The conditions for marathon running are ideal, with the average temperature in October being around 12–14°C… making this race the one to do!
