Sophie's Duchenne Dash

Sophie Turner will be embarking on her third Duchenne Dash in 2024. While her training is in full swing, we caught up with her to find out why she will be riding for Duchenne once again.

Here is Sophie's Dash story.

My best Dash memory

“Team Oscar holding our bikes aloft in front of the Eiffel Tower in 2019. After finishing a wet and windy ride the sun finally came out when we got to Paris!”

My best training tip

“Try and get out every week and do a couple of long rides before the event. Try and ride in all of your kit so you know it fits and you can make sure it’s comfortable.”

My advice for fundraising

“Use all of your networks whether that’s people you know through your hobbies, neighbours or work colleagues and share the Duchenne UK story. Lots of people aren’t aware of DMD and are keen to help once they know about DMD and the charity.”

What keeps me going through tough sections of the ride

“Apart from the coffee and the ride captains, it’s thinking about all of the people who are being helped by the Dash fundraising efforts and remembering that a tough ride for me is nothing compared to what the boys and their families are dealing with.”
