Duchenne UK successfully completes key requirement of full AMRC membership

Duchenne UK successfully passes AMRC Expert Review Audit

Duchenne UK has successfully passed the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) Expert Review Audit, demonstrating our continued commitment to funding high-quality, impactful research for the Duchenne muscular dystrophy community.

The AMRC Expert Review Audit is a key requirement of full AMRC membership and helps ensure that research funding decisions are made through robust, fair and transparent processes. The audit assesses charities against AMRC’s six principles of expert review: proportionality, independence, diversity, rotation, impartiality and transparency.

Conducted every five years, the audit is overseen by a cross-sector committee of senior research funding leaders and provides assurance that member charities are investing in the highest-quality medical research through rigorous expert review processes.

Passing the audit reinforces AMRC membership as a recognised kitemark of quality for medical research funding and provides confidence to researchers, donors, partners and the wider public that funding decisions are made to the highest standards.

We are proud to be among the AMRC member charities that have successfully completed the audit, demonstrating a shared commitment across the sector to supporting excellent medical research and driving meaningful improvements in health and patient outcomes.

Breakthrough Innovations Fund
The successful audit comes as Duchenne UK continues to strengthen its research funding activities through the Breakthrough Innovations Fund, which supports ambitious and innovative research with the potential to accelerate progress towards effective treatments and improved outcomes for people living with Duchenne.

By embedding AMRC’s expert review principles throughout our funding processes, we ensure that investments made through the Breakthrough Innovations Fund are guided by independent expertise and focused on delivering the greatest possible benefit for the Duchenne community.

Mike Bond, Director of Research and Development at Duchenne UK, said:

“We are very pleased to have passed the AMRC expert review audit, demonstrating our continued commitment to funding the highest quality research. With the recent updates to our research funding scheme, the Duchenne UK Breakthrough Innovations Fund, we will continue identify and catalyse the most promising science with the greatest potential for impact in the Duchenne community, underpinned by AMRC's expert review principles.”
