The best care for our community
We want to ensure everyone with Duchenne muscular dystrophy can access the best care at the right time.

The importance of good care
Receiving the right care and treatment can make a big impact on people with Duchenne’s quality of life and life expectancy.
It can help them stay active for longer and prevent complications.
But, care can vary across the UK.
That’s why we work hard to make sure everyone gets the best care, wherever they live.
Useful resources

Duchenne Care UK
Through Duchenne Care UK, a collaborative initiative between Duchenne UK and the John Walton Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre at Newcastle University, we work with leading specialists and the patient community to agree, create and implement effective standards of care for Duchenne for the UK.
Our aim is to ensure everyone can access the best care, no matter where they live.

Care guidelines
Working with expert clinicians and patients, Duchenne Care UK has developed clinical recommendations to inform and standardise patient care in the UK. These have been endorsed by the relevant professional bodies, with some now also curated and recognised by NICE.
Family guides have also been created to help parents, families and patients understand the care they should receive.
